When friends and family dined at Sophie Kreymerman's home, they would never ask for coffee, she was famous for her tea, which she bought from a local Chinese marketplace. It was not an obsession or pastime, but one day in 1999 an idea hit and Sophie determined she needed to stop her job trimming and polishing hands part-time and start serving tea full-time. The plan was simple, open a tea shop, with a bit of internet business. A tea supplier was found, and the internet site was established. Deciding on the name Adagio for the business needed 2 things. It has to be in tune with the mood of a cup of tea, and it also had to come at the top of the alphabet. The first $10,000 shipment instantly occupied the garage, favorably their neighbors understood and in about 18 months, it was determined that the company had to move out of the storage and into a depot. They sell popular products such as the IngenuiTEA, AnTEAdote and a line of realiTEA teabags which are being sold in shops, markets and stores. Our teas are now housed in a 26,000 sq ft depot in Garfield New Jersey, and have started transporting from a 24,000 sq ft depot in California.
